At ILÉ IYÁN Nigeria, we are thrilled to announce our recent collaboration with Madam Tinubu Hall, University of Lagos, where we hosted an exciting cooking competition. This event was designed to foster culinary excellence and support higher education among Nigerian youth, aligning with our mission to celebrate and promote Nigerian culture through our authentic cuisine.
Event Highlights
The event, held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the University of Lagos, was a resounding success. Students showcased their culinary talents by preparing traditional Nigerian dishes, which were judged by a panel of esteemed chefs and culinary experts. The creativity and skill on display were truly remarkable, highlighting the rich diversity of Nigerian cuisine.
Scholarship Winners
In our commitment to encouraging education and rewarding talent, we awarded scholarships to the top participants of the competition:
- Winner: Ms. Kenneth Mary Anuoluwapo, who received an academic scholarship and a cash prize.
- 1st Runner-Up: Ezeanowi Maryjane, who won an academic scholarship.
- 2nd Runner-Up: Nwachukwu Kamsi Adaobi, who was awarded a cash prize.
These scholarships are a testament to our dedication to nurturing future culinary leaders and supporting educational opportunities in Nigeria. The winners will now have the opportunity to further their academic pursuits at the University of Lagos.
Founder’s Vision
“This competition is not just about cooking; it’s about recognizing and nurturing talent,” said our Founder and CEO, Mr. Sanni Sheriff, who is also an alumnus of the University of Lagos. “We believe in the potential of Nigerian youth and are excited to support their educational journey through this initiative. This is also where I started my journey as a restaurateur and entrepreneur 15 years ago.”
The awards were presented by our dedicated ILÉ IYÁN team, led by Mr. Sanni Afeez, with Ms. Paulina Legba also in attendance.
